This Is Not My Hat

This Caldecott award winner surprised me. I was not expecting the story that was told. It is still accessible to young children but not as silly as I had anticipated it to be. I don't want to give away the plot for anyone who hasn't read it but it's worth taking a look at if you've got mischievous young ones.

The Lion & The Mouse

I've always loved the Aesop fable om which this book interprets. More or less, what goes around comes around. The lion ends up letting the mouse go free and when the lion ends up getting trapped in a poacher's net, the mouse comes to pay back the favor and save the lion's life by eating through the ropes.

The illustrations are amazing too. I'd check this book out for that reason alone.

I've been wanting to read this for a while now. When I first saw it I thought it would be a great book for bedtime and after reading it, I know it's great! If you take big, mindful breaths along with the whales, you will feel more relaxed and at ease.
